A QR code (Quick Response) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information as black-and-white square modules. It was developed in 1994 by Denso Wave and can be scanned with a smartphone camera or a dedicated reader.
A QR code encodes data into a matrix of black and white modules. Three square markers in the corners help the scanner determine the code's orientation. Built-in error correction allows the code to be read even when part of the image is damaged.
The maximum capacity of a QR code is up to 7089 digits or 4296 alphanumeric characters at the lowest error correction level. In practice, it is recommended to use no more than 300 characters for fast scanning.
QR codes are used for website links, Wi-Fi connection, payments through banking apps, electronic tickets, business cards, restaurant menus, and product labeling.
